I wanted to be a mom since I was five. Fast forward to my thirties, I found myself in a happy marriage, successful corporate career and teaching yoga at a local studio. I was finally ready to make my dreams come true...
Becoming a mom wasn't as easy as I imagined. After a miscarriage and a few years of fertility struggles, I decided if I couldn't become pregnant, I would find a way to support pregnant women. I became a certified prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher and I began to build local programs. As the universe would have it, the moment I start working with prenatal students, I become pregnant. Forty-two weeks later we met our son Finn. Even though I was an experienced yogi, I felt unprepared for the shift to parenthood. I read all the books, had all the apps, but they mostly talked about the physical realities of parenthood, with little support for my shifting priorities and everything going on in my head and heart space. When Finn was a year old, I had an opportunity to work with a professional coach. Our sessions focused on my career, but I found coaching was the missing piece to feel better in my role as "mom" and "partner". I started to ask "If CEO's have coaches to help them run business, why can't mothers have the same level of support as they navigate parenthood?" I started using coaching concepts during my yoga classes and workshops. The results were extraordinary and my students still find me years later to share how the coaching tools they experienced support them to this day. |
