Now that I am back to teaching 5:30 am yoga class, I am finding students say, "I love your classes, but that is waaayyyy too early!"  I am here to tell you, it might just be the perfect thing you need to start your day!

4 Reasons Why Morning Yoga Is Amazing

#1 The community and accountability of an early morning class  I always have the best of intentions, setting my alarm early to do a solo yoga practice or go for an early morning run before work.  Then I end up hitting the snooze button until there isn’t any time to stretch and strengthen my body, mind or spirit.  With my morning practice at Tosa Yoga, there is a community of people that wake up with me.  This motivates me to avoid the snooze and as soon as I am on my mat, I know I made the right decision.

#2 Starting your day with yoga is better than coffee, and better for you too!  I cannot tell you how many times I wake up sleepy and grab coffee even though I gave up caffeine 20 times before.  I find my initial coffee buzz wares off; I grab sweets, and another afternoon coffee.  Waking up with yoga encourages me to drink water and connect with my body and breath.  I find that my morning practice encourages me to make better decisions for the rest of the day.

#3 I have the evening to be with my family!  When I have the chance to focus on my own needs in the morning, I am a better spouse and 'dog mom' when I arrive home at night from work.  I also sleep better when I do a heating practice in the morning vs at night before bed.

#4 A Yoga Morning = A Successful Day  Connecting with my breath and body first thing in the morning sets my day up for success.  I feel more alert and centered, even when working in a stressful environment.  It helps me connect and stay true to my intention for the rest of the day.

Want to try adding morning yoga to your routine?  Join me at Tosa Yoga Friday mornings at 5:30 am.  Give it a try and see if early morning yoga is the perfect way to start your Friday. :)
